Shugborough Relays
This years Shugborough relays will take place on Wednesday 20th June 2012 starting at 7:30.
This is a very popular race which sees teams of four runners competing over a 2 mile lap around the grounds and trails at Shugborough. There are many different catagories and the main difference with this race to any other relay race is that everyone runs together. Juniors to Seniors all race each other.
All Harriers wishing to take part please contact Derek, Dave Rowlands or Steve Burnham as soon as possible. This is a fantastic team event which is not to be missed!
Club Meeting

Running Technique for Endurance Runners Workshop
Hi All
I am delighted to be able to inform you that we are again welcoming Peg Wiseman to the Midlands to do a workshop for us on Running Technique this time. Those of you that came to Peg's session last time (apart from it being a bit nippy in December)... we all had fun and certainly learn some useful tips to take back into clubs.
This session on running technique will look at how we run!! .... as we can't see ourselves! It will cover drills and how we apply technique..observations and review.
London Marathon 2012
“If you want to win something, run 100 metres. If you want to experience something, run a marathon.” - Emil Zatopek
So this is it. Here I stand, shielded from the chilly wind by a (soon to be discarded) pair of paint-spattered tracksuit bottoms and a bin sack (this isn’t the first time I’ve been dressed in such attire at 09:40 on a Sunday morning, but that’s a story for a very different website).
I’m standing in a pen of runners near to the start line of the 2012 Virgin London Marathon. As I look around I’m reminded of the opening scenes of ‘Saving Private Ryan’ where the camera focuses on the haunted faces of American GIs in landing craft on their way to Omaha beach. All around are twitchy feet. Some dampen their nerves with chat; others are quiet, alone with their thoughts. One man is actually sitting rocking, as if to soothe himself. Understandably the air smells, well…sulphurous.
Worcester half marathon

Well, never before have I written a race report so apologies for poor grammar and spelling, but here goes !!!!!!!!
Up at 06.30, out the house at 7.30 to get to Worcester by 8.30-8.40. Giving me time to park, wee (obligatory), set my garmin, warm up and compose myself. At least, that was the plan !!!!!
This was the first race I was going to by myself. No other harriers were doing it and my husband had babysitting duties so I was let loose with the sat nav and set out to Worcester Rugby Stadium. Now as I have NO sense of direction I of course got myself lost around Worcester and ended up 10 miles the other side of where I was supposed to be. As I am prone to pre-race nerves, this did not help. Anyway, I eventually made friends with the sat-nav and found the rugby stadium. After paying £3 to park (not amused !!!!) I parked my car and went to find the loo, and the start. Not as smooth a start as I would have liked, but at least I was there before the start of the race !!
