Chase Harriers Dinner Dance & Presentation Evening 6th February

I would like to thank the staff of the St. Thomas Priory Golf Club again for there efforts in making our presentation evening a success. Everyone enjoyed the food the DJ that attended again this year played a great selection of records. Some of our members surprised me towards the end of the night when the drink started to take its toll. There dance moves have been recorded. Pictures will follow shortly and no doubt another club video will be produced of the more embarasing moments. Justified winners were awarded there trophies well done again to those winners. Remember to give me the results of any races that you do and maybe next year it could be your turn to recieve a trophy. Check out the Chase Gallery for the photos!

Blackpool Half Marathon

All it needed was George Michael to jump in the room and sing "Last Christmas I gave you my heart ..." Ok that was two months ago, but race day doesn't start with a blizzard?? February runs are chilly brisk affairs, digging the car out should'nt be on the check list .... but here I was 'Ooop North' and ready for it. Despite endless taunts from relatives 'Ye must be barrr-mey' and other encouraging words and only having packed vest and shorts ... I felt proud that for me I had over done it already on the preperation.

Trawling through web sites to try and find if the race was on, I finally found the number for the Hilton hotel ... after 20 minutes of engaged tone, there was only one way to find out... sliding round the corner and down the prom, im greeted by a sea of lycra and day glow ... most definitely on then!

I hate bloody hill`s

wyre forest runaround 8.4 miles Dudley

I woke up this morning to find 3 inches of snow had come down over night and my car had a flat battery not a great start to the day at all.

I had only been back in training for 5 weeks after been off for 2 months with a back injury  and wasn't running particular well been at the back of the pack during club runs isn't fun at all.

So my expertations werent that great and i  would of been happy running around 8 min miles and a finishing  time of around 1.05ish this  would of been good time on a very hilly and snowy course

I set off at a good pace as it was fast down hill start for the first 2 miles i still felt good at 4 miles and then the hills kicked in and by god did they hurt ! i managed to reach 6 miles in a respectable 40Min's  then you guessed  it the 2nd hill came up  and so nearly did my breakfast ,  i managed to pull myself together for the last very hard uphill  finish. just to give u a idea of how hard this course was the last hill at 7miles went up 400ft in just one mile

I crossed the line in a very respectable time of 57.34 (6.45min per mile) and to my surprise i finished in  17th place out of 380 my best placing  ever  only 40secs off 10Th place, not bad for a guy only half fit  lol

Barrie’s Everest Diary

Thursday29th October

Day one! Drive down to Heathrow without any problems. Queuing at the check in, the penny finally drops; I am on my own with no one to turn to. So I go for a coffee and cake and now £5 lighter.

The planes ok a Boeing 777 plenty of leg room but the food is bland. There’s no chance of a kip too many screeching kids.

With a change of planes in Delhi the clocks go forward 6 hours so now its Friday already.

Birm. League X/C Aston Uni playing fields

E-mail Print PDF

Ok its here at last the final race of the 2009/10 cross country season. There are 13 lads that have turned up to race on probably the best underfoot conditions that they have run this season. The course is round the Aston University playing fields with just a short wooded section that they miss out on the 1st lap but do have to negotiate the other 2 laps. Yes it is a little boring for these lads who ars used to much tougher courses but I think they deserve a treat. Especially Phil Crowley recently did the Tough guy (fire, electric fences, sub zero water, scramble nets and more) yes this is going to be easy.
