This event should have been run on the 20th December 2009. After being cancelled twice its here 24th january 2010. Text from Rob Llloyd where are you "near the start" I reply "and me" he lies can't see him anywhere when will Rob tell the truth. No sign of Martin Wallace so I take a photo of Kevin and Rob (in photo gallery soon) they are doing the 1st race for the sub 40 minute elite runners. Close to the off so I jog ok limp down the course to take some photo's. Kevs hoping for 35 minutes and he's racing against the BIG GUYS. Chris Davis is running he holds the course record 28 minutes 52 seconds.
Kev comes past in the 1st twenty runners then towards the rear of the elite runners comes the Umpa Lumpa otherwise known as Rob Lloyd. He's decided to be careful as he's not sure he can break 40 minutes today.
On the 2nd lap Kevin is still holding his position and looking strong while Rob may have taken a couple of places if only the Umpa Lumpa hadn't eaten all that chocolate. As predicted Chris Davis won the race but Kevin had a great race with a time of 34 minutes 35 seconds. The quality of the entry showed even with that time he was in 25th place. Rob had a sprint finish and did manage to break the magic 40 with a time of 39:08 although his watch showed below 39 minutes OK Rob I will give you that one if you started your watch on the line.
The second race for the over 40 minutes saw a brilliant race by our very own Stephen Loundes who had taken my number (due to me being injured) started careful but in the 1st 20 runners. Then comes Arthur Roden, Martin Cope closely followed by Phil Crowley. There are all sorts one guy dressed as a Cavalier another in underwear that would look much better on a female. Then there was Ivor a BLIND runner who is in his late SEVENTIES (photo's number 586) an inspiration to us all.
The second lap Steve Loundes is still looking strong perhaps he should have been in the elite race. Arthur still doing great don't forget he is 63 god I hope I can be that good even now.Phil has passed Martin but they both look good. Yes I was right my slightly younger brother did break the 40 his time 39:34 the 1st V55. Arthur did 44:57. Phil Crowley did 45:35 and Martin Cope did 46:58 doing well after being out of running most of last year.
Well done to everyone who took part, the pictures have now been uploaded to the Chase Gallery.
